Understanding the Challenge

Living with severe food allergies is undeniably challenging. The constant fear, frequent hospital visits, and the stress of dining out were personal struggles for me. It's a reality that too many know all too well.

While there are existing methods for training dogs to detect scents and odors that are present, many fall short in the area of food allergen detection while living your day to day life. These existing scent detection methods lacked the precision needed to accurately identify allergens only in your food, amidst other scents that will certainly be present in others peoples food and often in the air of restaurants, leading to false alarms and missed detections, as a dog can easily be confused when to alert and when not to alert when they detect the scent of an allergen.

You also need your service dog that alerts you to the danger quietly and effectively, while not causing a disturbance by barking; An unwelcome behavior in any public setting. A dog needs to be trained to seamlessly integrate into your life, offering reliable protection without adding stress and complications to an already complicated life with severe food allergies.

My Story

I have almost forty years of experience in scent detection work and training dogs to track for search and rescue operations. This expertise and experience proved invaluable for me when I developed severe food allergies later on in life. I suffered a severe allergic reaction to my food in a restaurant while on vacation. This was due to human error in the kitchen and beyond my control. While I survived the exposure this time, I did not want to live my life in fear anymore and was determined to change that. I decided to use my skills and expertise in dog scent training, that would enable my dog to detect allergens in my food. After years of real life development, experience and refinement of the protocol and methods, I fully developed the "Cooper Protocol", named after my dog Cooper that saved my life countless times during the process.

While no dog is always accurate, this method is a game-changer in food allergen detection, culminating in an impressive 98% success rate. The success rate was excellent after a few weeks and gradually increased in accuracy as my dog Cooper became more proficient at detecting trace amounts of allergens. Cooper has alerted me to allergens many times in restaurants, from food deliveries, dinner events and concerts. Cooper even saved my life while on an airplane at 30,000 feet; The efficacy of my EpiPens would have run their course and be ineffective, well before the plane would have landed.
